What you need to know about K-9 ONE!
Our Missing Persons Response Teams are available at no charge, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We are a volunteer organization of specially trained canine handlers dedicated to search and rescue work. Our members have years of active search experience in area scent, human remains detection, disaster and trailing.
Since 1990 we have been assisting law enforcement and fire and emergency personnel in searching for lost or missing persons: lost children, Alzheimer's patients, hunters, hikers despondents and drowning victims. Additionally, we provide K-9 detection assistance in criminal cases, locating and identifying human trace evidence.
K-9 ONE members must pass a background check and an extensive training regimen before they are considered deployable on actual searches. Dogs work through about two (2) years of progression and must meet a certificationstandard to qualify as mission ready.
Some proficiency requirements of every active team member are:
FEMA Certifications of IS-22, IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, IS-809
Crime Scene Preservation
CPR Certified
First Aid Certified
FCC HAM Radio License
Search Management
Navigation
Missing Person Profiles
Incident Command System
K-9 ONE operates under the Federal ICS protocol and utilizes nationally standardized documentation readily transferable for agency use.
